Restoration projects in the works...

The Islip Town Fire & EMS Museum and Education Center has several restoration projects currently underway. These include a 1950's era ride-on horse commonly found outside 5&10 stores, a wheeled chemical extinguisher and a hand drawn hose cart.

These pieces have been acquired through various means including donation by a brother firefighter (horse), "barn finds" (wheeled extinguisher) and from collectors (hose cart). Museum staff and members are combining their respective skills sets and talents to handle the myriad tasks that must be accomplished to restore these artifacts.

As a private (non-taxpayer funded), non-profit museum, your support of our fundraiser efforts (training seminars, raffles, etc.) provide us with the means to restore these vital pieces of firefighting history to their former glory.

Stay tuned for progress updates as the restorations continue!

*Have a skills set you'd like to volunteer to help with any of these projects? Contact
our Facility Manager Bill Johnson or Historian Tom Rinelli for further details**
